Church in ruins

The following description is derived from both the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Louth' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1986) and the 'Archaeological Survey of County Louth' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1991). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research. Date of upload/revision: 17 July 2007 Undivided nave and chancel (max. dims. 12m by 6m) built of rough boulders, limestone blocks and greywacke slabs. Only the W gable survives to near its original height and has plasterwork still adhering to its inner face. It is almost featureless except for part of a window in the E end of the S wall, a window ope in the E end of the N wall and a probable doorway in the E end of the S wall. No dressed stone is evident but the size of the church and the position of the doorway suggest a late medieval date. (CLAJ 1944, 292)
