Detached five-bay two-storey former country house with central first storey recessed bay, built c.1820, with later porch (north-east). Now in use as private house. Recent rooflights and extensions to rear (south-west). Hipped slate roof with overhanging eaves, rendered chimneystacks and uPVC rainwater goods. Rendered walls with plinth. Square-headed openings with two-over-two timber sliding sash windows and tooled stone sills with timber shutters. Round-headed opening (north-west) with six-over-six timber sliding sash stained glass window with fixed pane fanlight. Square-headed opening (south-east) with replacement double-leaf timber glazed door and external shutters. Later porch comprising flat roof with rendered parapet with raised quoin detail. Rendered walls with vertical and horizontal plat bands. Square-headed opening with one-over-one timber sliding sash windows and stone sills. Recessed round-headed opening with replacement double-leaf timber glazed door, cut stone step and moulded surround. Restored outbuildings to rear.
The form of this handsome country house is typical of mid-nineteenth century rural houses of high status with a symmetrical façade, central rounded doorway and hipped roof. The character of the building is maintained through the retention of historic features such as the slate roof and timber sliding sash windows. The original outbuildings add to the setting and context. This house, through its prominent siting, considerable size, traditional form and historic features, makes a positive contribution in the surrounding landscape.
