Enclosure in Peafield — Report the wrong picture

What is recorded here

On a gentle SW-facing slope, in low-lying pasture, c. 0.4km to NE of the M7 interchange at Ballysimon. Not depicted on OS historic mapping. Identified by Celie O'Rahilly, archaeologist, Limerick Co. Co., as a small, dark circular-shaped feature visible on OSi aerial photography (Ref. OS 3/9160) taken 1985. Examination of these OSi aerial images was undertaken prior to the construction of the Limerick South Ring Road in the mid 1990s. Visible as a possible circular shaped pond on Digital Globe orthoimage taken 26/05/2004. No surface remains visible of this feature today on Google Earth orthophoto taken 19/11/2019. The aerial photographic evidence suggests that this was a natural pond type feature rather than an archaeological monument.
