Westbourne House

Terraced four-bay two-storey house, built c.1880. Pitched artificial slate roof with rendered chimneystacks and cast-iron rainwater goods. Painted rendered walls with plaque. Square-headed openings with one-over-one timber sliding sash windows and concrete sills. Round-headed door opening with timber glazed door, spoked fanlight and rendered surround comprising pilasters with consoles and architrave.

A prominent feature in the streetscape due to its size, this building is of a form typical to Skull with symmetrical fenestration and gabled chimneystacks. However it differs from other buildings in the streetscape in that it is a bay wider and with its round-headed doorcase, would appear to have been built as a higher status house. The historic fabric contributes much to its character and charm.
