Water pump in Skreen has its own walls, concrete floor and drain, with a little finial on top. Give it a door and someone will be asking six hundred a month, sharing with the pump.

This cast-iron water pump makes a positive contribution to the streetscape in Skreen. The decorative detailing, such as the banding and fluting add artistic interest to this functional object. Waterpumps played an important social and functional role in the nineteenth and twentieth centuries, by providing a communal water source.
