This cast-iron waterpump makes a positive contribution to the streetscape in Kildalkey. The decorative detailing, such as the banding and fluting add artistic interest to this functional object. Waterpumps played an important social and functional role in the nineteenth and twentieth centuries, by providing a communal water source.
