Fairy fort / earthen ringfort in Neillstown (lune By.)

Fairy fort / earthen ringfort

What is recorded here

Fairy forts are not fairy forts. They are human ringforts misnamed because people stopped remembering the hands that dug them. In Neillstown a sixty-metre circular shadow still lies buried beneath ordinary farmland, its eastern gap waiting like a door nobody lives behind anymore. The fairies inherit every place humans forget, which is why so many ringforts became fairy forts instead of disappearing entirely.
Situated on a fairly level landscape. The cropmark of a circular enclosure (diam. c. 60m) defined by a single fosse feature with an entrance gap (Wth c. 8m) at E is visible only on Google Earth (29/06/2018). It was first reported by Jean Charles Caillere. See the attached image from Google Earth 26/06/2018 Compiled by: Michael Moore Date of upload: 5 June 2019

The monument record does not grant public access. Check the route and ask the landowner before entering private land.
