Limestone lined tunnel, built c.1845, passing through earthen embankment of the Cork to Mallow railway. Rock-faced walls and abutments to east elevation with cut limestone stringcourse, round-headed arch with margined rock faced voussoirs. Dressed limestone soffit springing from impost course to interior surmounting rock faced walls.

This short tunnel performs the important function of allowing traffic to cross the Cork-Mallow railway line in safety. The rock faced rustication, typical of the high quality masonry associated with railway building at the time, adds textural interest to this fine structure. It forms part of a group with the other railway bridges along the line, which remain in constant use.

This does not grant access. Most recorded buildings are privately owned; view them only from public ground unless the owner allows entry.
