What is recorded here

Situated at the bottom of a knoll of rock outcrop where there was a small collection of houses as marked on the 1835 ed. of the OS 6-inch map. The remains of a collapsed sweathouse are set into the outcrop and composed of drystone walling with some small boulders. It was originally circular in plan (diam. c. 1.45m). The sweathouse has been removed since it was last inspected in 1966 but a photograph taken by Rev. Seamus Quinn, who was the parish priest of Knockbridge 1927-54, shows it complete with a rounded roof and a rectangular doorway.
