Post box in Creggane

Wall-mounted cast-iron post box, c. 1905, with crown and royal insignia of Edward. Set in painted roughcast rendered pier on Main Street.

This early twentieth-century letter box is of a simple design, its insignia and crown a reminder of the Edwardian period in Ireland. This post box is set in a pier at a prominent crossroads at the north end of the Main Street, close to the post office, and is still in service providing an important facility for the local community.
