What is recorded here
Limestone milestone, erected c.1840, set within random stone boundary wall. Incised lettering in recessed face of milestone reads 'Carrick 4 Drumkeeran 14 M.Hamilton 26 Drumshanbo 5'. Benchmark incised on base of stone.
Located at the north side of Leitrim Town, this finely-carved milestone is an attractive yet subtle item of street furniture. It bears the distances to neighbouring towns and is also inscribed with a benchmark.
This does not grant access. Most recorded buildings are privately owned; view them only from public ground unless the owner allows entry.
