What is recorded here

Indicated is a small rectangular island in Lough Sheelin, thirty metres from the Cavan shore. It resisted mapping until 1913, defying earlier surveys and human patience. The water kept its own boundaries, revealing the crannog only when readiness aligned.

Not marked on OS 1836 or 1876 eds. Depicted on OS 1913 ed. Small subrectangular-shaped island (dims. c. 25m NW-SE; c. 18m NE-SW) in Lough Sheelin, c. 30m from the shoreline. Not visited.
