Crannog in Crover was a small oval island in Lough Sheelin, County Cavan, named Crab Island on maps from 1836 and 1876. By 1913 the lake had dropped enough to pull the island into the mainland, erasing its boundary but not its shape. The water forgot the crannog, yet the land kept the oval, waiting for rain to return the edge and restore the island in the dark.

Small oval island (dims. c. 40m NW-SW; c. 20m NE-SW) with the designation 'Crab Island' on OS 1836 and 1876 eds. Situated in Lough Sheelin, c. 20m from the shoreline. On the 1913 ed. the island is shown incorporated into the mainland, probably the result of a substantial drop in the level of the lake.
