CarnalynchMountain / peak · 11 yd

Explorer Tom Carnalynch is close to Canningstown, where a stream flows nearby, making this Cavan peak feel refreshingly alive.

Drumacarrow HouseFarm house · 1320 yd

Explorer Tom Drumacarrow House is a farm house that thinks it’s a stately home. It evolved from a yard street to a formal garden, which is basically just growing up in style. Go on, kiss the wall; it hasn’t been touched since 1836 and is getting lonely.

Urcher ManseManse · 1566 yd

Explorer Tom Urcher Manse is a substantial Victorian house with a Gothic-Revival doorcase that looks like it wants to scare you out of buying a pint. It’s a former manse in Urcher, so I bet the dog living there thinks he’s the vicar now. Tell the dog I said hi and give him a treat!

CastleCastle, motte · 1.7 mi

Explorer Tom Castle in Tanderagee is playing hide-and-seek with me. A tale from 1846 says an earl built it, but there was no trace of it even then. Stand still and listen, the wind tells it better than me.

Birthplace of General Philip SheridanMemorial · 1.9 mi

Explorer Tom This is the birthplace of General Philip H Sheridan, a notable figure with roots right here in County Cavan.

Brothers GravesVisitor information · 2.2 mi

Explorer Tom Brothers Graves holds a touching memory, marking seven Marist brothers who lived long lives in this community.

Grave YardGraveyard · 2.8 mi

Explorer Tom Graveyard in Relagh Beg is walled off like it's protecting a state secret. The gate has a date on it, but I'd bet good money it's wrong. It's the kind of place that makes a dull Tuesday interesting, trust me.

Welcome to Bailieborough DemesneVisitor information · 3.3 mi

Explorer Tom Welcome to Bailieborough Demesne, where you might spot the famous Castle Lough recreation area.

EnaghMountain / peak · 3.3 mi

Explorer Tom Near Enagh in County Cavan, the air is fresh, and the local mill history adds a touch of intrigue.

Windmill in Enagh (crossbane Ed)Windmill · 3.3 mi

Explorer Tom Windmill in Enagh has lost its top and would spend a lotto win on a very expensive hat to hide that fact. It’s pretending not to be broken down. Ideal place to rehearse an excuse for being late.

LoughanleaghForest · 4.2 mi

Explorer Tom Loughanleagh has waymarked paths, so you won’t get lost, but I bet there are plenty of shortcuts for those who know where to look.

European Yew5.3 mi

Explorer Tom European Yew in County Cavan got the Vikings completely lost looking for it; they ended up in France by accident. It’s that kind of confusing presence. Make up your own legend and I'll swear it's true, because who has the energy to fact-check a tree?
