What is recorded here
Detached U-plan five-bay two-storey house, built 1855-6, with recent gable-fronted glazed porch to front elevation. Hipped and pitched slate roof with rendered chimneystacks, cast-iron rainwater goods and render eaves course. Rendered walls. Square-headed window openings with render surrounds and sills with six-over-six pane timber sliding sash windows to front elevation, and two-over-two pane and six-over-six pane timber sliding sash windows to east and rear elevations. Segmental-headed door opening to house proper, with glazed timber panelled double-leaf doors, paned fanlight and paned sidelights. U-plan outbuildings to rear comprising eleven-bay two-storey block to north with flanking two-bay two-storey blocks at right angles to south elevation, having pitched slate roofs, rubble stone walls, square-headed openings with timber fittings and segmental-arched vehicular entrances, all with red brick voussoirs and timber fittings.
The regular form of this house is accentuated by the render surrounds and by the retention of timber sash windows. The symmetry is emphasised by the twin central chimneystacks and central wide doorcase, now within the later porch. The outbuildings to the rear add context and retain their original form and features of interest, such as the slate roof and timber fittings. The arches are well executed and their red brick voussoirs add textural and chromatic interest.
