What is recorded here

Cast-iron water pump, c.1870, with foundry mark, banded shaft, fluted neck, cap and spout, and curved pumping handle.
The decorative detailing, such as the banding and fluting, provide artistic detailing to this functional water pump, which was cast by John Collins of Drogheda. Water pumps played an important social and functional role from the mid nineteenth century onward, providing a communal water source in the village. Makers plaque reads: 'John Collins Shop Street Drogheda'.
