Cast-iron water pump, erected c. 1870, with banded shaft, having fluted neck and domed cap, and with cow's tail pumping arm and spout. Set on rendered stepped plinth with rendered boundary walls. Metal plate to north with lettering cast in relief.
This attractive cast-iron water pump would have once acted as a communal water source. The banding and fluting are well executed and along with the elegantly curved handle, add artistic interest to this utilitarian object.
