Vent pipe in Rathfarnham carries a date, council initials and a maker’s nameplate. For a pipe, that is a fierce amount of taking credit. If it ever clears its throat, expect a speech thanking everyone who believed in it.
Cast-iron vent pipe, date 1912, with bulbous base. 'S.D. R.D.C.' logo and manufacturer's name plate to north side.
A simple piece of historic street furniture with attractive detailing which adds character to the streetscape and enhances the setting of the graveyard gateway.
