On W side of road. Flight of steps lead down to well which is partially covered by dry-stone walling. Deeply incised cross on one stone. Rounds made at well include area across road from it; traditionally held that well was on E side of road and shifted to present position after a girl washed her clothes in it (Hartnett 1939, 54). Linked to Saint Derg or Derry, the well is traditionally associated with cures for skin ailments and general healing. The incised cross and ritual rounds suggest a long history of Christian devotion and pre-Christian pilgrimage practices.
