Toberbreedia

In level pasture, on S side of stream. Semi-circular waterlogged area (L c. 5m) used to water cattle. In mid-1950s 'rounds still made, but not often' (Ó Danachair 1955, 205). Visited on 1st Feb. and reputed to have cure blindness (ibid.). Compiled by: Denis Power Date of upload: 26 August 2011

Toberbreedia is associated with Saint Breedia, a 6th-century Irish saint known for her healing wells, particularly in Munster. The well was traditionally visited on 1st February for curing ailments, and pilgrimage or 'rounds' were once practised there, reflecting a blend of Christian and pre-Christian healing traditions.
