What is recorded here
Following archaeological testing and monitoring on the N25 Youghal Bypass a circular structure (diam. 11m) defined by 20 circular post-holes was excavated in 2001. The post-holes were found to be of a similar size, shape and depth and had similar fills. There was evidence of a possible entrance feature along the E arc. Two shallow pits were discovered within the interior. The excavator (Noonan 2001b) suggested that it may have been an animal pen. (Noonan 2001b; Kehoe and Noonan 2003, 30-31)
