Wall-mounted cast-iron post box, c.1935, with raised "P&T" initials. Set into render over rubble sandstone and limestone masonry wall.

This cast-iron post box, which is still in use, is an attractive item of street furniture and represents an early-surviving artefact of mass-produced cast-iron work. The raised detailing is of artistic interest, alluding to the Celtic Revival style and representing the continued promotion of a national identity within the emergent independent state.
