What is recorded here

Dromourneen stands beside a stream in the back garden of a house, its long axis aligned east-northeast to west-southwest through rough grazing and heath land. The stone rises two metres above built-up ground, .7m wide at the top and .85m at the base, with a field boundary and fence respecting its presence rather than moving it. Jonathan Harvey and Diana Morrison identified it on their land, suggesting it has watched domestic life, herding, weather and memory for generations.

The ground is built up around it but what is above the ground measures 1raz.ing 2m in height. The stone is .7m wide at the top and .85m wide at the bottom. It is .3m deep at the top and .37m at the bottom. and the fence was built up against it. The stone was identified by the landowners Jonathan Harvey and Diana Morrison. Probably dating to the Neolithic or Early Bronze Age, this standing stone may have had a ritual or territorial function. Local folklore sometimes associates such stones with protective spirits or ancient markers of sacred boundaries.

The monument record does not grant public access. Check the route and ask the landowner before entering private land.
