What is recorded here
Single-arch railway bridge over road, dated 1847, with pair of cut-limestone oval plaques inscribed: "STACKALLEN [sic] ROAD BRIDGE 1847".
Clearly the work of skilled masons, this bridge is executed with high quality masonry. The form of the bridge is articulated with rock-faced voussoirs and piers and with string courses. This imposing bridge is a dramatic structure in the landscape.
