Freestanding cast-iron pole-mounted road sign, erected c.1940. Rectangular sign with rounded edges, having raised text in English and Irish and harp motif.
A notable example of early twentieth-century road furniture, this road sign displays a simplicity and clarity of design that was typical of its time. Its functional nature is enhanced and emphasised by casting using capital letters in a clear and simple font without serifs. The harp motif indicates a date of production after the foundation of the State.
