School in Stradermot went from primary school to crèche, keeping its stern stone corners and old timber door. The building has spent well over a century in education and been moved back to eating crayons.
Detached five-bay single-storey former Church of Ireland primary school, built c.1880, now in use as a crèche. Hipped tiled roof with rendered chimneystack. Roughcast rendered walls with plinth course and rock-faced quoins. Timber sash windows. Timber battened door with overlight and granite step to entrance. Site enclosed by rendered walls.
Although of simple design, details such as rock-faced quoins, sash windows and timber door with overlight create a pleasing exterior. This structure is socially significant within the community, having originally served as a Church of Ireland primary school and now as a crèche.
