What is recorded here

No castle wall, no lord's hall, no distant army: a man or family stacked earth and stone into a small round hill, then lived beside it in ordinary weather. The mound still stands forty to fifty centimetres above its own making, steep-sided and unbroken, while the land around it has been grazed smooth. That difference is the whole story. People can forget names, borders and reasons, but they cannot forget the shape of effort when it is still visible.

On a gentle SE-facing slope in pasture. A circular, steep-sided mound of earth and stone (H c. 4-5m; diam. at base 28m; diam. at summit c. 11m). The summit is enclosed by a bank of earth and stone (Wth 4m; H 0.5m) from ESE-S-NW, while there is a depression (2.5m; D 0.3m) of unknown significance at NW.
