Post box in Knockmark has its Irish initials standing proud of the iron: the sort of monogram a fellow orders after inheriting two fields. Next he’ll be calling the ditch ‘the estate boundary’.

This cast-iron post box is an interesting feature in the streetscape. The execution of the raised lettering adds artistic interest to this functional object. The traditional Irish lettering is of social as well as artistic significance as it is representative of the Ireland's new identity in the post-independence era.
