What is recorded here

Post box in Ashroe wears handsome Gaelic lettering, with ‘Jessop Davis Enniscorthy’ tucked underneath. That is a very Irish approach to modesty: let the work speak for itself, but give it your full name and home address in case it gets shy.
Wall-mounted cast-iron post-box, erected c. 1930, having raised P&T lettering. Set in limestone wall.
This well designed post box serves as a physical reminder of the growing confidence of the Irish Free State in the 1920s and 30s. The traditional Gaelic lettering enlivens its modest form and adds artistic interest to the box. Manufacturer's name on base of letter box: 'Jessop Davis Enniscorthy'.
