What is recorded here

Rectangular-plan rubble stone pier, built c.1820. Vertically coursed battered rubble stone walls, having later render coping throughout. Occasional concrete bollards at south-western end. Recent iron girder gate piers with double-leaf galvanized steel gates to north-east.
This functioning pier displays fine stonework throughout its fabric which is indicative of the skill of early nineteenth century craftsmen and engineers. It is a striking landmark and an important part of the maritime heritage of the area.
