What is recorded here

Dressed limestone pier, built c.1860, having dressed limestone walls with limestone coping stones with recent concrete repairs.
This functioning pier displays fine stonework throughout its fabric which is indicative of the skill of the nineteenth century craftsmen and engineers who were involved in its construction. It was probably built in conjunction with the former coastguard station to the north-east and boathouse to the north. It is a striking landmark and an important part of the maritime heritage of the area.
