Granite milestone, installed c. 1760, standing at side of North Road, having triangular plan, pointed top and incised lettering 'Dublin' and other indecipherable text.
A simple milestone with faded lettering, surviving as an important relic of the early transport and communication infrastructure in Ireland. It provides important historical context on North Road, which was part of the coach road linking Dublin with Slane and Ardee, and shown in Taylor and Skinner's Maps of the Roads of Ireland, compiled in 1777.
