What is recorded here
Free standing painted cast-iron water pump, erected c. 1900. Cylindrical shaft with raised horizontal banding, fluted domed cap with finial, upper section with fluted spout, 'cow-tail' handle, dished gulley drain in concrete paving. At road edge, bounded by low stone wall.
This water pump has technical and social interest dating to a period when there was no mains water supply. It is an attractive reminder of times past and adds detail and scale to the streetscape.
