Glenahilty National School

Detached two-storey national school, with projecting three-bay gabled front, flanked by recessed blind walls and with two-bay side walls, built 1872. Now in use as house. Hipped slate roof with rendered chimneystack, having pitched roof to the gable. Snecked limestone walls with dressed limestone quoins. Replacement two-over-two pane timber sliding sash windows set in square-headed openings, segmental-headed over doorway, all having limestone sills and brick surrounds. Limestone plaque to the southeast wall.

This purpose-built former school is an interesting addition to the surrounding area, and played a significant role in its social development. Though features and materials have been replaced, the building retains much of its original form and proportions.
