This is a very intact vernacular farmyard, the single-storey house being typical in size and form of the vernacular tradition. The window arrangement of the house may appear casual and indiscriminate, but is simply a response to the plan of the interior. The house retains its windbreak with moulded cornice, which adds interest to the façade and its steeply-pitched roof suggests the house was originally thatched, the house now being roofed in corrugated-iron which replaced thatch as a vernacular material in the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries. The relatively intact farm outbuildings are arranged in the half-courtyard manner around the main house. The sandstone boundary walls enhance the setting of the house and farmyard.
