Freestanding cast-iron crane, c.1890, retaining original mechanisms. Now disused. Sited on concrete brick cobbled footpath at side of quay on elevated retaining wall.

This crane, which is now disused, is of considerable industrial archaeological significance as a reminder of the period when Scotch Quay was a busy commercial district. Retaining its original mechanisms, the crane, which was intended to be operated by hand, is of technical and engineering importance. At present, the crane has an almost artistic or sculptural impression, and forms a picturesque feature on the quay.

This does not grant access. Most recorded buildings are privately owned; view them only from public ground unless the owner allows entry.
