The site is located in a large level field under tillage S of a medieval church (DU011-039001-). Formerly an open pool, dedicated to St. Brigid. Dedicated to St. Brigid, the well was traditionally associated with healing and fertility, reflecting the saint's widespread veneration in early Christian Ireland. It was originally an open sacred pool, later repurposed for domestic and agricultural use.
