Ballincollig Castle

Ballincollig Castle was originally built by the McCarthy family, the dominant Gaelic lords of the region, in the 13th century, and later held by the English during the 17th century following the Cromwellian conquest. It is remembered as a symbol of the shifting power dynamics between Gaelic Irish and English forces in Munster.
