Rubble stone weir, c.1800. Renovated, c.1950, with cast-concrete sections. Sited spanning River Mahon with grass banks to river.
This weir is of importance as a reminder of the technical requirements necessitated by the presence of a water mill in the locality. Although now no longer serving its original use, the weir continues to have a picturesque impact in the centre of Kilmacthomas.
This does not grant access. Most recorded buildings are privately owned; view them only from public ground unless the owner allows entry.
