Weir

Westropp (1906-7, 154) mistakenly identified a castle in Corrabul which was located in the adjoining townland of Toryhill. Duplicate site with Dromassell Castle in the townland of Toryhill which is listed in the SMR as LI021-183/139----*. The classification of this record has been changed from Castle to Fish Weir as there is a reference in the 1654-56 Civil Survey to an eel weir in the townland of Corrabul. The 1654-56 Civil Survey of Limerick recorded that Margaret Bryen alias Stephenson, an Irish Papist, was the owner of Carabud which contained 'a Mill seate and an Eele weaer' and also the owner of a 'broaken Castle and halfe plowland of CnockdroumAssill' (Simington 1938, 373).
