Freestanding cast-iron water hydrant, erected c. 1880. Fluted shaft with conical fluted cap, spout, handle and acorn finial. Manufacturer's stamp to west face.

Made by Glenfield and Kennedy, this fine water hydrant exhibits notable, well executed detailing which enlivens its utilitarian form. Water hydrants such as this are an important reminder of rural Ireland before the widespread provision of a domestic water supply.
