Cast-iron water pump, c. 1880, sited on grassy road verge, set on elevated semi-circular rubble limestone platform with limestone steps to south side. Pump having banded cylindrical shaft, curved cow's tail handle, fluted neck and cap and foliate decoration to base of spout. Set against rubble limestone wall with round coping stones.

This elegant cast-iron water pump has attractive detail in its design including curved handle, fluted neck and cap, and decorative water spout. Its position on a stone platform with cut limestone steps makes it a pleasant and attractive roadside feature. It is also a reminder of the social importance of a community water source in the past.
