Water pump in Rathcoole wears a black-and-gold lion’s head with a little acorn on top. King of the beasts below, squirrel bait above. Hard to rule by terror when your crown is somebody’s lunch.

Prominently set at side of road, this cast-iron hydrant is a welcome addition to the streetscape.
