Cast-iron water pump, erected c.1870, comprising a plain cylindrical shaft with raised horizontal banding, a fluted upper section and fluted domed cap with pointed finial. Decorative spout and with manufacturer's mark on shaft with lion motif and cow's tail pumping arm with fluted knob. Located at junction of two roads.

Erected as a communal source of water, this water pump is a reminder of local social history. Although no longer in use it is part of the street furniture and contributes to the streetscape. The presence of the manufacture's mark is of technical interest.
