Detached single-bay double-height former railway warehouse, built 1863. Barrel corrugated-iron roof with rooflights. Corrugated-iron walls with rendered plinth. Square-headed door openings to front (north-west) and rear (south-east) elevations, having corrugated-iron canopies supported on cast-iron brackets. Timber battened sliding doors having cast-iron handles, locks, brackets and rails. Recently inserted camber-headed door and window opening to side (south-west) elevation, having glazed timber door surmounted by timber casement window. Located opposite former railway station on rubble limestone platform with red brick coping. Shared rubble limestone enclosing wall having rendered coping. Square-profile ashlar limestone gate piers having limestone caps and vehicular and pedestrian wrought-iron gates.
This goods shed retains much of its original form and character despite some alterations. Together with the former station, platforms and bridge, it forms an interesting group. The complex serves as a reminder of the economic growth of rural areas during the latter half of the nineteenth century and adds significantly to the engineering heritage of the area.
