Standing stone in Creevy

Standing stone

What is recorded here

Creevy in County Longford holds a long upright stone, almost flat-topped and aligned NNW-SSE in low-lying pasture. It stands slightly taller than a person, broad enough to touch along its whole face, thin enough to suggest a door left open in the earth. Cows may have walked past it for centuries, unaware that they were grazing around a marker older than memory.
In low-lying pasture. This almost flat-topped, long, upright stone (H 1.05; Wth 1.2m; T 0.55m) is aligned NNW-SSE. Compiled by: Patrick F. O'Donovan Date of upload: 1 March 2012
