What is recorded here

Conlon (1918, 134) recorded two galláns in field adjoining road opposite Clashmaguire gallán (CO059-074---). First stone (L 5ft; 2ft 7ins x 10ins) was leaning heavily; second stone (L 2ft 3ins; 1ft 5ins x 8ins) was lying on ground and partially grass covered; 18ins apart (ibid.). Now no visible surface trace of these stones. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Cork. Volume 3: Mid Cork' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1997). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research. Date of upload/revision: 14 January 2009
