Killaveny holds a castle only in memory. The valley widens beneath a SE-facing slope where people once pointed and named a missing hall. No stone remains to prove the shape of that hall, yet the land still repeats the claim. Forgetting built the castle twice: once in timber or rock, once in the voices that refuse to stop seeing it.

Situated on a marked SE-facing slope, at a point where the narrow valley widens. According to Price (1946, 76) there was a strong local tradition of a castle at this site, although there is no evidence at ground level. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Wicklow' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1997).
