Standing stone in Coumaraglinmountain,cutteen South

Located at Bearna na Madra gap in the Monavullagh Mountains with a shoulder of the mountain c. 170m higher c. 750m to the N, and a shoulder c. 100m higher c. 900m to the S. There were said to be two other stones lying prone near standing stone (WA014-011001-) (Power 1952, 152-3), but there is no evidence of such stones. Power, Rev. P. Probably dating to the Neolithic or Bronze Age, this standing stone may have had ceremonial or territorial significance. Local folklore sometimes associates such stones with ancient pathways or protective markers against supernatural forces.
