Architectural fragment in Newstone

Architectural fragment

What is recorded here

Dressed and decorated stones from a lost tower house or later residence in Newstone, County Meath, still stand embedded in the walls of the present farmhouse. They are not buried or forgotten but visible, reused and living inside an ordinary house. The building has become a container for its own ancestry, carrying the shape of earlier hands through daily life.
Some dressed and decorated stones from the tower house (ME003-017002-) or later house (ME003-017001-) are built into the present farmhouse. Compiled by: Michael Moore Date of upload: 13 May, 2016

The monument record does not grant public access. Check the route and ask the landowner before entering private land.
